My 10 practise photos

In this photo, the head is focused with a small amount of grains. The background in the image is black so that the main image can stand out. Also the background is blurred. The lighting is bright and dark. It has no post-editing so its mostly natural, however as the main image is bright and the background is dark there is a contrast. The position of the head is taken at a side on angle, so that the head isn't centred. The rule of thirds in this photograph brings your attention to the forehead because its the brightest part.

In this photo instead of making the background blurry, I made most of foreground blurry. This is because, even though we can see the chains as the foreground it gives a shiny looking effect. The other half of the chains aren't blurred, as it shows the contrast of blur and focus. This style works with the same main image. The effect is also to make sure that the viewer is certain the main image is understood. The lighting is mostly dark, however there is also bright parts. The blurred chains make the image look naturally darker. Whats interesting about this picture, is how with depth of field there is nothing that instantly catches you eye, because the blur is closer to you then the focus.

The foreground in this image stands out to the background. The background includes alive and dead plants alongside a pond. The foreground stands out, because the background is nature but the foreground is a bronze looking instrument. The lighting is similar for the foreground and background, however, as the instrument is made of metal its shiny, making it reflective and in a way brighter. The position of the instrument is centred on the base but towards the top its tilted a bit.

In this photograph I used the same style effect as to the other ones i took. This effect is to make the background blurry so that the foreground is in focus making it stand out. This also helps to suggest what the viewer/s should look at. The main front cage is slightly blurred as well. This is to ensure that the rust can be spotted. The photograph is a still image, however the wind is moving it as its very light so that's why it looks slightly tilted.

In this photograph the foreground has more focus and has a brighter look making it more exposed, to the background. The depth of field in this photo will encourage you to look at the broken parts of the bannister. The fact that you can see the background with another bannister and white increases the overall brightness of the photograph. However the front main focus is bright whilst its also fairly dark.

In this photo, Their is no specific focus on anything. As, it is all in focus with no blur. However, the blue and green reception sign will be the first thing the viewer will look at. This is because it stands out as it has a different contrast to the other colours. the leaves in this picture are brown and there are hints of white in the background, making the reception sign stand out.

This photograph is similar to the previous one. This is because the yellow and black stand out, due to the bland brown background. This is also another photo in which has no blur. The yellow gives a brighter and more exciting feel to the picture.

This photograph focuses on the glass, however you can see through the glass. The background in this picture is the scrapped items, but the glass is the foreground. Whats different with this, is that even though the foreground is focused, the main focus for the viewer would be the scrapped objects as you can see more of the background then the foreground.

In this photo there is a plain looking tree to the left and right. However, the main tree is bright orange. I used this as the main focus. My aim was to add a small amount of blur to the orange wood but not too much, so that it could stand out. There are a few leaves in this photo to give a natural look. The rule of thirds focuses on the wood and the leaf as they are two contrasting colours. The composition here is that the tree is centred alongside the picture being taken centred as well.

In this photo the main focus is set on the foreground. The background has leaves at the front and back of the picture. The front side of the leaves are in focus, but the behind the drain are blurred leaves. However, in the centre you can see an entrance to a drain. Even though it looks basic and not much too it, its colours are very different to its background making it stand out in a way. The composition of the drain is centred but the photograph was taken at a slanted angle.
